Diety, Dirt and Dipsticks
on Mar 14 in Science by T.M. CoalI have encountered a horrible ideal and lest it spread unchecked to the minds of those who are my friends I am going to provide each of you with a cure. All you must do is drink one glass of open mindedness, eat one apple of objectivity and then read what is written below.
It seems as though it has become common place for those who hold a belief in god or God to be stored in a glass labeled “Idiots” along with the fools and fables of past and present.
This is a horrible event that should be corrected immediately. It is horrible because when a culture or system begins to make any ideal a prerequisite to being accepted as intelligent it is on its way to stagnating the philosophical waters. It is differing opinions that breed insight as they are discussed by level headed and open minded people. It is the questioning of all things that leads to revelations of man’s ultimate place in eternity. To try to make any thing called “truth” unquestionable and to cast negative light on the holders of any opinion is to make objective and personal consideration impossible.
For example little Nannie may have had a remarkable experience that can only be described as “spiritual” but due to all the negative light cast on such things by her peers or advisers she may never pursue an understanding of it and because of that she might miss out on the one insight that would have revolutionized her soul and life.
Then on the flip side is little Timmy. He is a professedly religious person who after sitting in Science class one day is assaulted by tons of information which challenge his faith and shake his philosophical structure but due to the labeling of all such information as “bad” and “evil” by his peers he brushes them all away and becomes a narrow minded bible thumper who offends all those with differing insights whereas he might have been a great thinker.
Those these are but examples the two processes here mentioned are repeated and perpetuated daily en mass so that the war between differing views is resupplied and all sides fail to thrive or see the whole.
The solution? To listen open heartedly and to look at just the facts with a stern and solemn determination to accept what is truth regardless of the amount of personal pain or self reconstruction that will follow.
I myself have done this to the best of my ability. I have stepped out and away from everything that was ever told me by anybody and relearned how to order my world step by step, view after view. I have looked at as many different opinions of life as I could find. Buddhist, Christian (many varieties), Hindu, Taoist, Confucian, Druid, Shamanistic, Egyptian, Humanistic, etc and what I have walked away with is a wonderful view of life and how to live it. It is view that cannot be shaken because I have sought and dug the treasures myself through a great many hours of study and tears. My view is by no means an exact replica of ultimate reality, nor do I believe it to be complete. It grows and dies daily to be reborn again better, closer and more accurate.
What does all this rambling of my view and how I got it have to do with calling people who believe in Deity fools? Simple, after countless hours of chewing through mind numbing facts and essays I have put at the base of my Philosophy and at the start of all existence a Being so vast and powerful that God is the only word to describe him and frankly I am no fool.
Those who have the belief that their is no god/God I respect. I know that every being on this earth has been subjected to endless experiences which have led them to their inner truths based on environment and personal disposition. I hold no disgust toward them but I challenge them to illustrate for me how the ideal of Atheism is any less a matter of faith than that which the Jews or Muslims hold.
“Ah, you see science!” they have said to me and in reply I have always said what is science? To get knowledge by observation and at the end of the day the evolution (slow change) of rocks to living things by mere chance has never been seen, nor has there been a witness to chaos birthing order. No random diffusion of energy has ever made system. Bombs don’t build buildings nor do winds create houses. At the end of the day you have two ways to view the beginning of life. In the beginning there was dirt or in the beginning their was God/god and since life and order can only come from life and order, I believe in a creator.
The heavens and earth alone prove there is a god but to discover which god/God is the journey of every soul.
P.S. To all who would like to set me straight or have friends that would like to set me straight please write me. My site is always here and I will in no way be offended. If one can illustrate to me that my views are erroneous I will change because I would rather life a life a macabre and bitter end as to live a life of joy which stems from a lie.
